Humans can identify dangerous stimuli such as spiders and snakes very quickly. This makes sense because some animals are venomous, and people who could identify them quickly were more likely to avoid them and live to pass on their genes.
Research shows that people can identify guns as quickly as they can identify spiders and snakes. This is interesting
because guns are a modern threat.
How would a different evolutionary process respond to this? Animals sometimes evolve to copy features of dangerous animals to look more fierce. For example, the hoverfly has the same stripes as a wasp. This is called batesian mimicry.
Because humans consider guns a threat, it might be possible that some animals will evolve looking like guns.
