Innovate Festival is an event where technology start-ups can show their ideas. During Innovate Festival there were many wishes in the air. People wished for certain technologies to improve their life, or hoped their companies became succesfull. It was a good day to make a wish.
On the day of the festival, 13 October, the satellite INS-1B would make it’s final orbits before burning up in the atmosphere that same evening. From earth, a burning satellite looks like a shooting star.
I invited people to think about what they would want to wish for, if they happened to see the final moments of the satellite. People wrote down their wishes and left them at the satellite totem for good luck.
Besides offering people a moment to reflect on their wishes, the project questions the faith people have in technology and how technology influences cultural lore.
